Making a good impression with recruiters is the first step to getting a job offer. On the lookout at the SPJ expo for good prospects, representatives of companies suggest:
— Keeping it short.
Recruiters want brief résumés, no longer than one page with at least three references.
— Dressing for success.
Looking professional could help you land a job.
— Leaving your shyness at home.
Be prepared to talk about yourself, your strengths and your career goals.
— Being yourself.
Recruiters want to meet the real you. They’re looking for truth and confidence.
— Doing your homework.
Research the companies you want to interview with. Come prepared with questions.
The expo continues from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday in the Regency Ballroom.
