Stacey Woelfel (@staceywoelfel) and Chip Mahaney (@chipmahaney) kicked off the News Directors Bootcamp at EIJ13 this morning with an interesting question for the news directors in the room.
“If you weren’t doing journalism or weren’t a news director, what would you be doing?”
Answers from around the room included becoming an astronaut, working for Amnesty International, working for the CIA and becoming a salsa instructor.
The Carole Kneeland Project posed these suggestions for news directors:
- It’s okay to look at things differently.
- Step back, turn around and get a new perspective.
- Get out of the same old rut! Make a new groove!
- Your job is to coach, not do.
