As the 2018 Excellence in Journalism News conference winds down here in Baltimore, attendees are beginning their journeys home.
Over 1,100 people attended this year’s conference. Of these attendees 73% were professionals, 22% were students, and 2% were retirees. Some traveled further than others to get here.

The three states with the highest attendance were Maryland, California, and New York.
Last year’s conference in Anaheim was held in joint with the National Association of Hispanic Journalists and the Native American Journalists Association, which resulted in more diversity, but Baltimore still saw an array of visitors from different backgrounds and all walks of life come together to learn and connect with others in the industry.

The conference was fully covered by the EIJ news staff, who published print and multimedia stories, and live covered various events that took place throughout the three day conference.
The EIJ News twitter (@EIJ_News) achieved almost 40k impressions from Wednesday to Saturday from 91 tweets. The number of followers has increased by 51.
