The Casper Project: Investigating Mistrust of the Media

EIJ News 2019 San Antonio  In the town of Casper, Wyoming, coined “The Oil City”, Rod Hicks, Journalist on Call for the Society of Professional Journalists, planted the Media Trust and Democracy of Casper Project. The program geared towards educating people about the media and gathering more information on media distrust.

EIJ News 2019 San Antonio Chris Post worked as a first responder for over 20 years before he became a journalist. As a medic, his job was to get to know people quickly and personally to most effectively help them, and those skills transitioned smoothly into journalism.

Climate change isn’t a dirty word: making climate stories local

September 6, 2019 San Antonio   Regardless of political party or geographic location, climate change has become a topic that people cannot ignore. However, the question still remains: How do we integrate environmental stories into our local newsrooms?  On Sept. 5, EIJ19 held its breakout session, Climate Matters: Fitting a Planet-Sized Story Into Your Newsroom.

Long Lines For EIJ19 Registration

EIJ19_careerfair September 5, 2019 EIJ19 opened this morning with a line of people flowing out the door of the Texas Ballroom to register or pick up credentials for the Excellence in Journalism Convention (EIJ19) . Inside the Ballroom, the career fair was in full swing as representatives from news and media organizations around the US talked to prospective interns and employees.
