SPJ Board of Directors reflect on a challenging year

The Society of Professional Journalists Board of Directors met Thursday morning at the national conference to reflect on a challenging year, review reports, and say goodbye to retiring members. The one-hour meeting was outgoing president Matthew Hall’s last. In a virtual format, the board covered the SPJ President, Executive Director, Treasurer, and Committee and Community reports.

Mover, Shaker, History Maker: Rebecca Aguilar set to become SPJ’s first Latina President

When Rebecca Aguilar, president-elect of the national Society of Professional Journalists, is sworn in at the group’s virtual conference later this week, she’ll be making history. Aguilar, 63, with more than 104 predecessors, will become the organization’s first-ever Latina and woman of color president.

Outgoing President Matthew Hall Hopeful for Future of SPJ and Journalism Advocacy

Society of Professional Journalists outgoing president Matthew Hall started managing the Opinions section of the San Diego Union-Tribune in 2001, with additional skills in social media and politics reporting.  Hall said he is hopeful for the future of SPJ, especially in the hands of the 105th president-elect Rebecca Aguilar.
